Giaglakis Apartments lie just a few yards away from the Platys Gialos beach. The location is ideal as it is so close to the beach, bus stop and public parking place but at the same time, far enough from everyday life buzz. If you enjoy starting your day with a morning swim, Giaglakis Apartments is the place for you.
On the south side of the island and at a distance of 15 km from Kamares (the port) and 10 km from Apollonia (the island's capital) lies Platys Gialos, a seaside settlement. Here, you will find one of the largest sandy beaches on Sifnos, which is consistently awarded the Blue Flag. A slew of water sports and boat rental businesses operate at Platys Gialos, while boats sail off the dock for a tour of Sifnos or to visit nearby islands.
Platys Gialos boasts an ample sandy beach replete with sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as beach trees that generously provide shade to those more 'traditional' sea goers. Restaurants with local and world dishes as well as café-bars, serving refreshments and coffee from morning until the late hours, lie all along the beach.
Near Platys Gialos lies the monastery of Panagia Vouno, one of the oldest on Sifnos. Lately a lot of couples choose it as their wedding place then, apart from being a beautiful sight, its churchyard is brimming with pine trees and the panoramic view over Platys Gialos is breathtaking.
At a short distance from Platys Gialos (2 km) lies the most viewed place on Sifnos, patron saint Panagia Chryssopigi, atop a steep rock, detached from the rest of the island. In that same area, there are two beaches of crystal clear waters, Apokofto and thin-pebbled Saoures.
